TESTIMONIES FROM OUR YOUTH

I first give honor to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to my Pastor Elder Gregory Adams, Sr. and his wife. I also give honor to Bishop Jeffries and all the holy Elders and Ministers and their wives.  I thank God for leading me to the truth. At the age of sixteen, I began seeking after God. Even though, I was a teenager I still wanted more for my life. I grew up dealing with various adversities, yet God kept me. I went from church house to church house searching for truth. Yet, it seemed hard to find. Even though I was searching, with lack of guidance I found myself learning false teachings. While believing these false teachings I was still living a life of sin, with my life going down hill. Through all that I have been through, I am grateful for being lead to the truth, when I did. I am 23 years old and thanking God that I am in the light. I hope to continue to grow and mature in the word of the Lord with each day. I have grown some, with more growth to come. I hope to be an example for the rest of my family, so that they too will come to the truth and live in holiness. In spite of the hard times I go through, I know that if I keep my mind and heart on the Lord, he will work it out. I want to tell young people to stay encouraged and that as young people, we too can live right and be examples to others. As I have heard Pastor say, "stay on the ship". I can honestly say that there is no other church like the True Church. The world has nothing, when compared to the promise of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Peace & Blessings

I thank the Lord for my life, my health, and my strength. I thank the Lord I woke up in the morning for 12 years, and I hope I will still see another day. He blessed me with a mind to strive to live right for the Lord. He also blessed me with a good education, saved parents, food on the table, and clothes to wear. But most importantly he blessed me with a life to live. So everybody that knows  the words of prayer please pray for me and my family.

Sister Dineke Turner - Lucas Temple

I thank the Lord for my life, health and strength. I thank him for my parents bringing me up in the truth. I'm thankful for my father because he could be selling drugs or out in the street and not supporting his family, instead he is a good provider for his family. I thank the Lord for having a mother who loves, spends time with me and cares about me. She could be a worldly Mother who did not care. I thank the Lord for Bishop Lawson and Bishop Jeffries for being good leaders. The True Church has been a blessing to me and my family.

Let's all pray for one another.

I am 14 years old and I live with my mother.  I love attending church services.  I enjoy beating the drum at church and I do it willingly. I also like singing in the choir. I thank the Lord for being here. I thank the Lord for my life health and my strength.  I thank God for my pastor, Elder Taylor and his family. I thank God for my mother , my grandmother, my church family, my natural family and for food and shelter. I thank the Lord for what he is to me. I thank the Lord for everybody.

Michael Vernelle Hatchett Jr. - Barnesville

First, I would like to give honor to God.  He has been truly good to me, I just can’t tell it all.  I thank the Lord so much for all the trials and tribulations I have experienced, for they have made me strong, very strong.

I have been a member at The True Church for about a year, and I thank God for leading me here.    I moved to Atlanta from Mississippi in 2003 at the age of 25 not knowing what God had in store for me. I am now 28 years old and I know that God lead me to the True Church.  It took almost three years but I found a church that was teaching the truth. I had been praying for God to lead me to a true church in the Atlanta metro area. I had visited several other churches in the Atlanta area and I knew within the first three minutes that I was definitely not in the right place.

I had seen several television broadcasts of the True Church and then decided to visit the website.  There I read the True Church doctrine and beliefs and made the decision to visit one of the churches and I have not stop coming.  I remember when I first walked in the doors at St. James, I felt at home the moment I stepped in the door. I knew at that very moment that the True Church would become my home.

I pray that the Lord continue to work with Bishop Lawson and all the Elders and Ministers so that they may continue to spread God’s Word.

God Bless,

Sis. Roshunda Silas – St. James

I am a new young sister to the true church ,and I am so blessed to be apart of the truth. God has blessed me so much and he has been so good to me. I thank him for my education. I am a Sophomore at Spelman College.  My family was not brought up in the truth, so before I came to the true church I was not taught the way that I was supposed to live. My parents do not believe in this gospel , and they have ridiculed me , told me that I can still wear pants , and go out to the club. But God has blessed me to know the truth. It hurts because I know that they will be lost if they do not get right, but I have to save myself.

Now that I am in the truth I have peace and I can obey my parents no matter how they speak to me. This is what my leaders and the bible has taught me. Being in the truth  has made me a better person; I am now more responsible and have matured.  As a young woman in the church there is so much learning to do, but I am willing to learn because there is no other way.  I want to be an example, and let others know that you can live right , but you have to have a mind to live right.

Please continue to pray for me.

Sister Ashley Reese - Deliverance Temple

When I first came to The True Church of God In Christ, I didn't understand or know of the things that were being taught by the leaders of The True Church of God In Christ.  I started to hear people say that I was too young to live holy and that I haven't experienced the world.  As I started to grow in the word, I now understand that God doesn't have an age limit on anyone and that no one is too young to go to the lake of fire.  I chose to live a holy life because I refuse to go to the lake of fire.  I began to hear the different testimonies of how God had blessed, which helped me to see that I could be blessed also.  As I applied the word to my life I instantly saw a change.   Unlike others, I didn't have anyone in my immediate family to go to for encouragement and advice.  I just leaned on the Lord.  I thank the Lord for sparing my life and giving me a second chance.  I know God didn't have to choose me but he did.  I have been out there in the world and know there is nothing better than The Lord Jesus Christ.  In my closing, I encourage everyone to try Jesus, He's alright!

Sister Lawanda Baskerville - McDonough Mission

I truly give honor to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; our beloved late Bishop W. F. Lucas and current leaders Bishop B. J. Lawson, Elder Oprie Jefferies and their wives, my pastor Elder Gregory Adams, Sr. and his wife, my mother. I am thankful for all God has done for me. I am a college student currently at Morehouse College studying biology. God has helped and blessed me numerous of times. Yes, I am young but the Bible didn’t put an age limit on who could live right and receive the Holy Ghost. I’ve learned from our holy commendable elders and minister,(all men) that there is only ONE way and that way is Holy. No matter what your past, as long as you repent and get baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, God can forgive you. You must live right (Holy). However, repenting is not to be repented of, therefore when you make the declaration that you will live right you must do so.

God has  truly been a blessing in my life. I have been in church all of my life (20 years). I haven’t always lived right for God but I had to make a change and I am to my utmost living right now. As the Bible states, “and such were some of you…” I am living a Holy and righteous life. Holy because there is no other way. Being apart of the True Church of God in Christ, Inc., has been the best organization I could ever be apart of. This Church has shown and taught me to be a light to the world. I do not dress like the world,  act like the world, and most certainly do not talk like the world. It means something to be different. There’s a saying Elder Adams has taught his congregation, “DARE TO BE DIFFERENT.” Why do we have to settle to be the same as everyone else in the world? I am a peculiar person; We (true church) are peculiar people.

Growing up, my parents taught me to do my best at whatever I do. I figured if I am going to be the best, I might as well be the best in every aspect of my life. Being the best is being perfect (spiritually). There is no other way for me. The only thing out there in the world is Hell, Death, and Destruction. The more I sit and listen to the Word, the stronger I become. I truly believe that my life speaks for itself. People may say it’s hard to live right, especially young people, but it really isn’t. The Bible says, “…the way of a transgressor is hard...” I thank God that I am a part of the True Church. As one of our Deacons say, “Your Blessing(s) is Right Here.”

Minister Gregory Adams, Jr. - Deliverance Temple

My testimony is about the obstacles I encountered, but overcame as a young woman while away from home between the ages of 19 to 24.  At the age of 19, I entered a relationship that became abusive. Later, I began hanging out with the wrong crowd, I began struggling with my appearance, and I began seeking love and acceptance from all the wrong people.  Many days and nights I would shed tears and feel sorry for myself. However, deep in my heart, I knew all I had to do was to call on the name of Jesus. Except, I did not understand why God still loved me in spite of everything I had already done, and I began to hate myself even more. I stopped praying altogether, because I believed I was too depraved to be forgiven and to receive help… but I had a praying mother.

One day, around the age of 21, I received some courage from my mother and brothers to end that abusive relationship. In spite of that, I still had not surrendered to God because I thought I was too YOUNG. I had failed to realize that we all needed to be saved despite of our age. In time, my grades in school began to slip, I began having financial difficulties, and I began clinging to ungodly things and people. I had allowed so many ungodly desires to consume me.  ‘And every few months, I would be in the hospital or in the school’s infirmary because of some bad decision I had made. Many of these events had me dropping on my knees and calling on the name of Jesus. Soon enough, I began to confide with my Mother and my pastor, Elder Robinson.  At times, both would be praying for me in the middle of the night. I remember my mother calling Elder Robinson in the middle of the night for prayer.  He prayed, and God began moving in my life. At the age of  23, I begin seeking God as my personal savior. I became so tired of sinning. I began praying sincerely for God to have mercy on me.  I thought if I did not get my life together really soon, I was going to die or become incapacitated.  At that realization, I told God I wanted to be committed to him because I recognized that tomorrow was not promised. I had finally confessed all of my sins to the Lord and asked him for forgiveness at the age of 24. I stopped wearing the ungodly attire; I stopped going to the clubs and the parties; I stopped listening to the secular music, and I ended a 2 year unsaved relationship. God then begin to work in my life immediately. I am forever grateful God gave me an opportunity to serve him.

Today, as a single, young woman, I could be doing a lot of other things, but I have come too far to go back. For all intents and purposes, God has really blessed me since I’ve been on his side. He has blessed me with so many new opportunities. He blessed me with a new job and he has shown me how much he will continue to bless me if I just obey his word with faithfulness and serenity.  I now understand the power of the Holy Spirit. The True Church pastors have explained it so brilliantly. To all the young, single people I am a witness that you can make it and you can live right, but you must be sincere about your salvation. Know that your body belongs to God and treat it as if it is priceless; Know that you don’t have to fornicate and you don’t have to listen to that secular music to be accepted; Know that you do not have to feel lonely, and you do not have to get caught up in ungodly relationships and entertainment.

“Looking for love?” Jesus has always loved you.  Just continue to seek God, but wait on him and be of good courage, because he wants the best for you. In spite of all my past mistakes, I have made the appropriate steps toward healing and correction. God has forgiven me, and I have forgiven myself—that was the hardest part. Naturally, disappointments and hard aches may still come my way, but that’s life, and I am yet holding on.  All of my sufferings and tribulations are strengthening me and giving me more patience, and you know what, I’m still growing. But I do believe God’s Spirit is what keeping me now, so when I am experiencing heartaches, or if I don’t understand a trying situation, I remember  Isaiah 40:31… and then I pray, and wait on the Lord.

Sister Lilly T Stafford, “Mickey” - Henderson Temple True Church

First of all, I would like to give thanks to the Lord for what he has done for me and my family and what he is continuing to do.  I also want to thank him for a wonderful husband; someone who is trying to live right for the Lord.  It means a lot to me.  I want to thank Elder Adams, my father-in-law and all the other elders and ministers for teaching me the truth.  I appreciate everyone who have made me feel welcomed and loved when I first started coming to the True Church.

I just want to thank the Lord for how he has been there answering my prayers while I was having my problems and going through things with my family.  I have just learned to turn it over to the Lord and he will work it out the way it is suppose to be. It may take awhile but just be patient.  The Lord works in mysterious ways.  I just want to be right and to be able to raise my son up the right way.  I know I can’t do it if I am not right myself. I want to thank my husband again for being there for me and for helping me see what being right is. I just want to be ready when he comes.

Everyone please pray for me and my family.

Sister Beth Robinson – Deliverance Temple

Greetings.  I am 15 years of age and the daughter of Minister Thomas and Carrie Davis. First of all I would like to thank God for all of the True Church Elders, Ministers, Mothers, Brothers, and Sisters. I would also like to thank God for my parents for raising me up in the truth. It is such a blessing to have saved parents in your life. My parents are always encouraging me in my life choices. Indoctrinating the fact to not only settle, but strive for the best. From time to time we talk about the factors that will hinder me from achieving my successes; such as pregnancy, drugs, the wrong crowd, all of these things. I'm also grateful for young sisters in the church. While other girls are up on the phone talking about their next party, we're talking about the next church services. We've grown to like church because we've gotten involved in it with such activities as the choir, ushering, and bible school. That's why it doesn't bother me as much now when other young females at my school TRY to put me down or make fun, because when you KNOW what you're doing is right you're not supposed to let anything get into the way of what you're doing. So I would encourage this gospel not only to the grown people, but also for teenagers. Your blessing is truly at The True Church of God in Christ.

Sister Sonetta Davis, Barnesville

I thank God for my family, my blessings, the Elders, Ministers, Bishop Lawson and their wives.  God has blessed me with a good education and saved parents.  Without my saved parents I don't know where I would be or what I'll be doing.  I am thankful for what I have.  Those who know the words of prayer, please continue to pray for me that I grow stronger in the Lord.

Brother Marcus Turner, Girard, GA

I thank the Lord for my life, health,  and for how he blessed me to live. The Lord has been so good to me. All I can say is thank you Lord. I thank the Lord for letting me go to the True Church of God in Christ. Bishop Lawson is the best bishop I know. He teaches and preaches the holy word and I thank the Lord for that.

I give honor to my pastor, Elder Gregory Adams,  pastor of Deliverance Temple. I also thank him for the Elders and Ministers. I thank the Lord for everything he's done.

I just want everyone to pray for me because when the Lord comes back I want him to  say well done my good and faithful servant.

Brother Gabriel Adams - Deliverance Temple

I thank God for letting me be alive today.  I thank him for Bishop W. F. Lucas,  Bishop Lawson, my family and the True Church that I go to.  I thank God for my education, my world that I live in and my life.

Brother Dontavius Turner, Girard, GA

As a young person in the True Church I have overcame a lot of things by obeying what our Bishop and all of the other holy Elders and Ministers are teaching. I honestly thank God for all the things that he has done for me. I just want to say that even though I am a young person at 16 years of age I can still live a holy and dedicated life to God. I believe that every young person can live holy and free from sin. Bishop Lawson is really preaching to us young people. He is teaching us that we don’t have to get joy by partying all night long, or going to the clubs, drinking, smoking, and doing drugs, but we can get joy out of coming to different church services, hearing the gospel, and praising our One and Only True Living God.

I just want to thank my parents for bringing me to church and for the Bishop and all the holy Elders and Ministers for standing strong and teaching the gospel.

May God continue to be with The True Church.

Sister Shantese Lawson - Augusta

I would first like to thank the Lord for being the creator of the universe.  God has been great in my life as a sister, wife, and mother.  The teaching over here at the True Church has taught me how to be a mother to my daughter, wife to my husband, and a good sister for the Lord.  I use to be very shame and shy in serving the Lord but I realize that God has not given me the spirit of fear so I will serve him without shame because I know that if I be ashamed to own him, he will be ashamed to own me.  I want to be a light everywhere I go, in my home, on my job, etc.   I wasn’t brought up in the church but if people from my past could see how I conduct myself now, they would be amazed because I don’t talk, walk and dress the same.  It is said that you can’t help but to sin.  I know for a fact that is a lie.  God has been so good to me.  He blessed me with life, health,  strength, understanding, and most of all trials and tribulations because it’s making me to be a sheep he is coming for in these last and evil days.

Sister  Tonette Lemons – Lucas Temple

God is blessing me all the time. I have my life health, strength, food, clothes, and shelter. What more can I ask for. I thank God for my Holy parents. I know I may not understand what they say or do all the time, but I know I’ll understand it better by and by. I thank God for Bishop Lawson. He’s my pastor and I’ve know him all my life. He is a perfect example for anyone who wants to live right. I find no fault in him and I’m not looking for any.

By being under the gospel, I have learned not to let the devil make a fool out of me. I know the devil would love to see me fall, but I want to have a steadfast mind and stay in the church. That’s where my blessing is and I want it.

I thank God for blessing me to graduate from high school. I’ve gone to school 12 years with no hurt, harm, or danger to come upon me. I thank God I didn’t have a mind to play around or sit and talk about others. I was in school to take care of business. The church has really been a blessing in my life. The teaching of the word has kept me out of trouble. I have learned to watch what I say and do, because people are really watching me. I have to walk circumspectly. I’m striving to become saved and work out my own soul salvation, so I can be ready when Jesus comes.

Brother  Regginald Turner - Burke County

When I was asked to contribute my testimony, I thought about sharing one of my experiences as a child and how it relates to the way God used the late Bishop W. F.  Lucas in my life.  Bishop Lucas was a great man of God who made a difference in many lives. I miss him dearly.  Thus, I would like to share with everyone a miracle which I believe the Lord worked through Bishop Lucas to perform in my life.

I am a 29 year old member of the Lucas Temple True Church of God in Christ.  As a child, I struggled with having seizures periodically.  The convulsions would take place when my family and I would least expect it: on family vacations, riding my bike, sitting while watching television. One even happened as I stood on a 4ft. wall near our driveway.  I fell off the wall and was hurt pretty badly.  I experienced many scary moments in my life, yet I thank God for them. Consequently, I visited many doctors. They did not know what was wrong with me or what caused the attacks.  According to some specialists, I needed to rest my body. Other experts thought it could perhaps be caused by my diet.  Most did not have a clue.  Honestly, I didn’t believe any of that.  I believed that God allowed me to go through that situation for His glory, to show others that He is the Almighty.   Now, I thank Him for it!

In addition, the doctors had me on all types of medicines -  settling on one in particular.  This drug made my body feel very uneasy - at times I felt jittery, nauseous and on edge.  I was very unhappy with the idea of being on this medicine for the rest of my life and wanted to be delivered.  But, I had a doctor above all doctors.  His name is Jesus Christ. I went to Bishop Lucas and asked him to pray for me about the situation. I let him know that I did not want to be on these pills for the rest of my life.  He laid his hand on my head, said a short quiet prayer to the Lord, asked me if I had the faith and the belief that I would be healed, and told me that I would be alright.  After being on medications for years to prevent me from having seizures, following the prayer, I believed that I would be delivered from this illness.  I stopped taking the medication cold turkey and have not had another seizure to this day.

I will forever be grateful and indebted to the Lord God Almighty!  I love and appreciate Him for who He is and for what He has done for me in my life.  Words cannot express my gratitude for the opportunity to get to know such an awesome saint, Bishop Willie Fred Lucas.

Grace & Peace,

Brother Calvin D. Lemons, Jr. - Lucas Temple

I thank God for being alive! I also thank the Lord for the use and activities of my limbs and being closed in my right mind. Most of all, I thank God for the word of God. It will make you want to live right. I thank God for my Holy parents. They have been a great blessing to me. They have kept me out of a whole lot of things that I could have gotten into. I appreciate Bishop Lawson so much! He is a very strong man in the Lord. I don’t have any doubt about him at all. I have known him all my life and I can’t find anything on him. By being under his leadership, I was taught to wait on the Lord to move in my life, not let the devil take control, and most importantly, stay under the gospel no matter who comes or goes. I’ve also learned to keep myself and to think, watch, and pray before I start jumping into things. I just really appreciate his teaching, encouragements, and for being an example to the flock.

Now, I’m striving to live my life to where God will be pleased with me. It’s a blessing to live for the Lord at a young age.
